Hi Sounds like you are Type 1? I have been type 1 for 3yrs now, as soon as I wake up I have to take my Fiasp and it might help to have a small amount of food otherwise your body is kicking out glucose as it thinks you need the energy in the morning due to lack of any food. one tablespoon of full fat low sugar plain yogurt really helps me. What are you eating for meals as although nhs say Type 1’s can eat anything and calculate the carbs this simply didn’t work for me. I cannot possibly eat bread or any kind of cereal in the morning otherwise I would shoot up sky high and if correct either it’s still not enough or I have a hypo later. I have a few breakfast recipes from a diabetic cookbook that I make and keep in the fridge. Can you give an example of typical days food? Please can someone help. I’m really struggling to get things right. From the hours of 9pm-8am have good control and in range 3.9-10. As soon as I get outta bed before I even have any food my sugars are growing fast. I then struggle all day to get them back under control. Yesterday was terrible, I took my insulin and corrections, counted my carbs etc but i couldn’t get it back into range. Every meal is a battle. I take my insulin, count carbs, BG comes into range then starts shooting up, I do my corrections and the circle continues. Someone please help. I’m at the end of my tether. I’m really struggling. Don’t know how much more I can take.
... Or beforehand if you don't eat breakfast or eat a while after getting up.'Foot on the floor' is common. This is when your blood sugars rising as your liver gives you energy waking and for the day. You can take a correction with your breakfast.
I would suggest changing your breakfast, milk and cornflakes would really mess up my day. Although you are only having 40g carbs I find with certain carbs I just can’t eat them it may be different for you but as you are having a problem I would try a change.Breakfast I have 40g carbs. Usually cornflakes and milk. Lunch yesterday was 40g carbs pancakes and grilled bacon and tea was 50g carbs. Chicken breast, baby potatoes and mixed veg. Two snacks at 10g carb each. Afternoon and before bed.
I am type 1. I have been for 20 yrs and always struggled. But since gettin the freestyle Libre monitor am trying really hard to get it right. Only now since having it I can see why I felt so poorly all the time. Am on basal bolus regime. Lantus and humalog
