sugar level reading

I visited my doctor's surgery today to discuss my blood test results and was told that the sugar level reading was 39 and that it was below normal range. Can you please explain what this relates to and what is "normal range"?

And yes, 39 mg/dL is very low!

Unless they meant your HbA1c was 39 mmol/mol, which is not especially low for healthy people, but low for a diabetic.
