sugar level

Hi @static192 . Fascinating how we all deal with diabetes in our own individual ways.
If those figures were mine I wouldn't have given anything a second thought.
As for the rise?
Dawn phenomenon maybe.

Just a question though, did you find that the rise affected your mood/ approach for the rest of the morning.

If i had those readings a few months ago i would have been well happy.

I was going to bed with 12 or 13 sometimes higher and even after a correction i was waking with a similar high BG. It was Dawn Phenomenon in my case and its been solved with an insulin pump.

went to sleep with a sugar level of 6.8 woke up and its gone to 8.9 :(
In all honesty, there's nothing really wrong with that... Given that there's around 15% error margin with most meters, I wouldn't be too disheartened with that small "circa" 2mmol/L deviation. A deviation of 1.7mmol/L or less is deemed sound.

I wouldn't get too hung up on DP for the time being due to the rise being fairly small. But you could always try a small increase in your basal insulin dose if you're always slightly higher in the morning than the prior evening. 10% increases is the recommended approach for this, less is more in a lot of cases - I found that out with my basal dose!

Personally, I have DP which I can't do anything about, then a BG rise once I'm up and moving. I counter both as well I can with a bolus dose on waking. It's all I can do (besides waking up around 4am and injecting) without the aid of pump therapy.

brillant results
change only on 3 days of HIGHS or 3 days of OWS very tiny ups or downs
OTHERWISE .FOOD TIMES INSULIN EXCERCISE JUST KEEPIT ALL STABLE
GOOD LUCK

**** so do you actually wake a 4am and inject insulin to tackle the dp

hi thanks for replying has the insulin pump helped alot?.

How long have you been diabetic @static192 ? personally I would be really happy waking in single figures. A pump can help a lot but it is a big commitment

No I don't wake up at 4am for injections, but it's really the only way to help counter the effects of DP before my BG is messed up. Instead, I just bolus when I wake up, correcting my higher than ideal BG.

Hi @static192 I wouldn't get upset with those numbers, honestly ;)

I am on a pump some days I can wake happily in range and others I can be 10+, there are so many factors affecting control such as heat, exercise, stress, hormones etc etc that waking in single numbers would keep me happy - it's good not to get stressed with managing this condition otherwise it becomes an endless cycle of events.

What is essential though is looking for patterns, so if you wake on 2 days consecutively showing the same pattern then time to adjust but otherwise stay chilled you're doing brilliantly :)
