I just got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes went in for blood work the nurse called said get to er asap I had a sugar lvls of 778, in the last 24 hrs I've checked my blood several times the lowest it's been it stays up 400-550 the er put me on 15 units of insulin I'm thinking I need 30 plus my metformin? Any ideas

Assuming you're still in the hospital, they probably don't want to risk hypoglycemia by giving too large of a dose. And metformin and other oral drugs isn't something to worry about until your blood sugar is lower and you're in a more stable situation. Metformin also would take a while to start having an impact, and a lot of people seem to report that it doesn't have a large effect, so it's not much use as a short-term fix.

@dman1975 Hi and welcome to the forum. I think your medical team will want to bring your numbers down slowly. Try and be patient.

Welcome @dman1975

Diet - (low carbohydrate high fat diet or low carbohydrate ketogenic diet) - and walking or other physical activity together are game changers for many who have diabetes: type 1, type 1.5 (known as latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA)), type 2, and pre-diabetes. This is an excellent forum to begin learning more. You're among friends here.

It's good you sought medical attention and are monitoring your glucose levels. Sounds like the insulin is helping.
