Sugar levels 778

I just got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes went in for blood work the nurse called said get to er asap I had a sugar lvls of 778, in the last 24 hrs I've checked my blood several times the lowest it's been it stays up 400-550 the er put me on 15 units of insulin I'm thinking I need 30 plus my metformin? Any ideas

Assuming you're still in the hospital, they probably don't want to risk hypoglycemia by giving too large of a dose. And metformin and other oral drugs isn't something to worry about until your blood sugar is lower and you're in a more stable situation. Metformin also would take a while to start having an impact, and a lot of people seem to report that it doesn't have a large effect, so it's not much use as a short-term fix.
 
@dman1975 Hi and welcome to the forum. I think your medical team will want to bring your numbers down slowly. Try and be patient.

Diet - (low carbohydrate high fat diet or low carbohydrate ketogenic diet) - and walking or other physical activity together are game changers for many who have diabetes: type 1, type 1.5 (known as latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA)), type 2, and pre-diabetes. It's good you sought medical attention and are monitoring your glucose levels. Sounds like the insulin is helping. :)
