If your BG is so low that you pass out I'm not sure enough sugar would be absorbed through your gums to correct the low quickly enough. If you pass out due to a hypo anyone with you needs to dial 999 and explain that it's a diabetic emergency. If you have a glucogon injection kit you can teach friends and family how to use it and that may be more helpful in this sort of emergency. No one should ever try to put food or drink in your mouth whilst you're unconscious as it may cause you to choke. If you're not yet unconscious and are able to swallow the easiest thing may be for you to drink through a straw but only if you are able to swallow.
Honey on the gums works very well. It sits there and gets absorbed and it doesn't drip too much Set honey, that is, not runny honey - yuk! Think of the mess!
But, as Sophia says, nothing should go in the mouth if you are unconscious. She's said the rest.
