Since I was moved from Omnipod dash to Omnipod 5 I can no longer get continuous bg readings. This is a problem for me at night as I rely on the excellent alarms from the SugarPixel as I am hard of hearing. It was fine when I used my iPhone app to control the dash. But I now have to use the Omnipod pdm, Has any other SugarPixel user managed to connect their pdm to receive continuous readings. I would welcome any advice on how I could set this up….thank you

Good morning

I had similar problems when I moved to Omnipod 5. I also have hearing loss, so when I take my hearing aids out at night I could not hear any alarms. The Libre linkup app was suggested to me but the readings were not sent to my phone consistently. There was sometimes several hours between data being sent over.

I approached a local advice centre and they gave me a door bell designed for those with hearing loss called chime flash which I could hear. I think this device is available online. It picks up on the alarms from the pdm and amplifies them.

Eventually and it took some time I was changed to Dexcom G7. I now get alerts on my phone which I can hear. I think others with hearing loss were highlighting this as an issue. I made Omnipod aware of this. They said they knew it was a problem but had no solution.

I hope you can find a solution

Thanks for the advice. My diabetic team are moving me over to the Dexcom g7, so hopefully that will sort it out as I will be able to use an iPhone app. I notice that chime flash is a doorbell, do you use the doorbell or does it just pick up from the Omnipod pdm…..thankfully my wife hears my alarms and wakes me up!

The Chimeflash picks up the alerts from the pdm. It has a small sensor which you sit the pdm on. It is quite noisy.

Good that your Diabetic team are moving you to the Dexcom G7. Hopefully you will find that you can hear that. There are some alerts you will not get on the Dexcom app such as Automated Delivery restriction. Most importantly you get the low alerts.

Well done on getting this sorted.
