suggest me a competitive sport.

Peashooting? Light on the pocket, not an endurance sport.

The world peashooter championships are held in Witcham, cambs every year.

Maybe darts?

Orienteering.
Sorry, it still involves running but unless you are on a bike or a horse or decide to go in for gymnastics then most sports do.
You can choose your distance and difficulty, none are much more than 10km though they may be very hilly or difficult terrain. You can walk but you don't have to run flat out all the time since you have to engage you brain to make route choices. It can be as competitive as you want it to be and you can carry on doing it into your 80s. Many areas have local clubs for training though that can be done alone. As long as you have transport to get to events you don't even need much equipment.

Another vote for orienteering - cheap (entry fees from about £2 to £10; initially, you just need shoes suitable for terrain, which could be streets ("urban orienteering"), parks, hills, trails etc. Most clubs will lend compasses to beginners, as well as providing advice to get your started). As competitive as you choose. Plenty of races, usually at weekends, with weekday evening events, although I wouldn't suggest starting in the dark, not least because you'll need to invest in a decent head torch. fMost races offer a range of courses, from very short and easy to very long and difficult. Linear courses, where you have to find every control, and score courses, where you have to gain as many points as possible in a fixed period of time (and lose points if you're late back). Mosrt people choose a course so that they'll be out 30 - 60 minutes. Many clubs arrange liftshares.
Orienteering can be on foot, bike or skis. Mountain bike orienteering (MTBO) - see http://www.bmbo.org.uk/

I can run, I played rugby for 12 years. I'm just not good at extended periods it. For example running 5 or 10 miles. If it was 5 or 10 miles of brief sprints that would be fine! Haha

Did you ever find your sport?

I think Indoor Rowing was mentioned in an earlier post. I'm a member of a highly addictive and competitive Indoor Rowing Community. It's little known for such a large group. There are a lot of ex rugby players (exceptionally good) and several 2km competitions in the UK, Ireland, Europe and World Championships in the US, for all age groups, every year. For the first time Indoor Rowing 2km will be competed at the World Games in Poland 2016
All training fits in around your spare time and with your ability to find a rowing machine. Several FB Groups to help with training plans (Tabata, Interval, Marathon and more....), technique, feedback, support and healthy competition. It's an overall body workout but low impact on your joints. Concept 2 is our Rowing machine of choice and caters for sprinters and endurance athletes alike (these can be found in most decent gyms).
Its not easy, it hurts like only sprint sport can! If it's something you want to check out here's a link:

If you decide to go a step further and set up a C2 Logbook you can request to join the Concept2 Logbook Group on Facebook with over 1000 member worldwide all addicted to Indoor Rowing!

Lastly, I've been Type 2 since 2009 and started Indoor Rowing in 2012 for Sport relief and got hooked. I did my first 2km race in Ireland last November getting silver in my age group and am now controlling diabetes with diet and excercise only. I row 5 days a week and hold the Tandem 100km World Record (Female 40-49 HWT) with my friend Lucy. Not too bad for someone who was a lazy, obese smoker 5 years ago!!

Which team Anita? I'm nominally a Forum Flyer, but not a comptetive erger these days

Hey, sorry no I've kinda stuck with my weight lifting due to taking on a driving job and being pretty busy. Looking into enduro mountain bike racing too but bikes are expensive :-O

C2Tweetcrew Dave, do you still do the challenges?
Not these days, I tend to use the erg more as a cross trainer to try and help prevent/manage injuries.

I tend to be most active on the "runners who also erg" threads these days. Anything more than about 40 minutes gets complicated from a compettetiveness point of view as I need to stop and test and/or eat, plus I'm bl00dy slow on the erg these days
