While out enjoying the sunshine today I'm sure I remembered reading somewhere that the sunshine, or the heat, in some way affects BG levels.

Am I right or have I just imagined it?

If I'm right and it works in a good way, would I be allowed time off work for medical reasons. Just wondering..........

I was told that your insulin absorbs faster so it can often lead to hypos. I dunno about days off though! :lolno:

chocoholicnomore... I have read varying things on hot weather! some say it increase blood glucose and other that it decreases.. my personal experience is that my insulin requirement on comparable days doesn't change... however remember that in hot weather (and longer days) we tend to be more active and outdoors... this additional exercise can of-course lead to lower blood glucose..

So no, you can't have the day off.

My understanding is that our HbA1c goes DOWN in the summer  I believe it's because our Glycation rate changes so the same average BG results in a lower conversion to glucose platelets and thus HbA1c. Probably find we all react differently. And no, Choco, that doesn't mean you can have an extra hobnob when the sun's out!

Sorreeee!!!

Just what I was going to say, Jbx! Get out there, Marina, and let the sunshine increase your Vit D levels! Just make sure you don't burn .

I can't possibly suggest you sneak a sickie   It's a hard life, being retired

It IS hard! In between going to Curacao and Antigua, I have to stand around in fields chomping grass!
