Hello all, I am interested in the use of supplements to reduce/stabilize BS levels. So far I've read about cinammon, Gymnema Sylvestre, sour cherries, coconut oil. What I want to know is does anyone take any of these supplements, and if so, has anyone found them beneficial?

Hi Popps,
There are quite a number of natural supplements that are believed to help in controlling blood sugars. The majority encourage the pancreas to produce more insulin, but some act more like metformin in helping to reduce insulin resistance. Each of them has only a tiny fraction of the potency of the standard diabetes medications, but some people claim to find them helpful. Personally I have tried cinnamon and karella (bitter gourd), both of them for 6 months, but not at the same time, and found neither had any effect at all on my BS levels.
