Sweating Profusely

Afternoon all.

Had quite an annoying morning, mainly because I wasnt sure exactly what was going on. Im hoping someone can give me some info.

This is fairly long winded although im trying to include as much info as possible.
BACKGROUND INFO
So for the past 10ish days ive increased my 4 mile evening run to include a 4 mile morning run. I do this Mon Tue Thur and Fri with Wed resting and doing little exercise over the weekend.

Ive been adjusting my insulin (novarapid and levemir) in the morning to accommodate for the morning run and I have it under pretty good control. - I run early morning before breakfast -

Although, as I say, its fairly well under control I spent most of yesterday (Tuesday) morning with my BL crashing. At 10am (2 hours after run, 1 hour after breakfast) it was 5.9 and then each hour after it was 3.3 and 3.2, this was with continued eating of dextro tablets. Had it sorted out by lunch time. An hour after my evening run gave me a BL of 4.1. Had 1 piece of toast. Woke up at 3am and needed something sugary so I had a homemade bun with icing.

Today, Wednesday 3rd
Day off exercise today. Woke up and using 1 of my last 2 strips I tested my bl. 7.7. Had a slightly decreased level of novarapid and levemir because of all my exercise yesterday and the slight troubles with my BLs. Red apple, like every non exercise day, for breakfast. Went into town 30mins after breakfast and could feel my BL crashing and my eyes blurring as I was getting ready so I had 2 Dextro tablets that didnt appear to do much (after 10 mins) so I had bite size small Mars Bar and felt ok.

Bus in. In town and about 30 minutes later I start to sweat profusely on my forehead, back and chest. -This rarely happens to me. I was in the Library and was completely out of Dextro tablets and with no immediate access to food. I wouldnt describe how I felt as how I normally do when my sugar level is low although I didnt feel great. I waited it out for 10 minutes as I didnt feel in danger and was curious too. Btw, I didnt have any testing strips on me. After 10 minutes I began to feel better and the sweating stopped, although I did have a few noticeable patches of sweat underneath my coat. I soon left and bought two chocolate bars to eat as I was walking home. This was more of a hunger pang/relapse too I believe and thats why I ended up with a BL of 13 when I got home. My highest in a while I may add.

Basically im just wondering exactly what my sugar levels were up to when I was sweating so profusely.

Is it possible you were dehydrated? The symptoms you describe happen to me occasionally, especially in hot weather. Blood pressure drops off, and I find it almost impossible to tell the difference between this and low blood sugar.

Thanks kegstore. That definitely sounds like it could be the case. Its been really hot the past few days and now that I think of it I certainly didnt have a great amount of water to replenish from the heat and exercise.

I agree about the dehydration and hot weather but also you have doubled your mileage very quickly. Most running books for non diabetics suggest a maximum of 10% increase a week. The increase might be 'taking it out of you' . It also might be that basal will need reducing (hot weather and increased mileage)

Thanks phoenix. Wasnt aware of the 10% increase. I think ill see how the next week goes and take it from there. Ill make sure I drink plenty.

It's also possible you might be sickening with something, completely unconnected to the diabetes or the exercise (though this usually tends to shoot BG up). My money's probably also on the dehydration as a factor.
