Swedish experts found Low carb most effective

I leave home at 7am through the week so I always have breakfast apart form the weekend then it's a a brunch.

That's how it's worked out for me, and if the following links conclusion is right it could help in keeping my diabetes progression in check.

Nystrom's breakfast study.is a bit of an odd study because it compares a low fat breakfast and lunch and a low carb breakfast and lunch with a coffee breakfast followed by a Med diet type meal.(similar total calories) The people then went home to eat their own meals so we don't really get a full picture of the day.
The low carb breakfast plus lunch resulted in a slightly lower (than the Med lunch) amount of glucose (area under the curve) but the low carb diet had raised post meal trigs

. Tony, that statement ' The genetic factors that predispose to diabetes are different from those that cause rapid progression of diabetes suggesting a difference in biological process that needs further investigation' is I think really significant and suggests why some people find that they have great success with 'lifestyle' interventions (of various types) and others don't.

Thanks for the link, to be fair they do state "however, it should also be noted that fasting levels of triglycerides have in some studies been lowered more effectively by low-carbohydrate diets compared with low-fat diets", as I don't expect ever to be given an option to have post meal trigs measured and the evidence of the effects of low carb have differing results I see no reason to make any changes to my diet.

My lifestyle changes occurred while I was on the low fat diet which hardly made any difference to cholesterol , all the big improvements I saw in cholesterol were purely down to changing to HF/LC.

As our American friends might say "Gross" ! I wouldn't be able to eat for a week after that! Well maybe I would because I would have been sick !

Thanks for the tip about the sugar in the berries lowering bgs more quiickly xyzzy!

I thought like many other people that breakfast was "the most important meal of the day" and so now-a-days I eat it, I usually eat a 2 egg omelette. So which is better for losing weight/maintaining weight, a bullet proof coffee or omelette??
