Having only been on a new diet to control type 2 for a couple of weeks, I'm still getting sweet cravings now and then, I used to scoff chocolate and such all the time,is there anything I can eat to get rid of the cravings?
Sorry for the silly question but I'm still getting used to everything :woot:
Thanks

Hey Gary. Get yourself a jar of cold pressed virgin coconut oil. Eat a spoonful of that whenever you get a craving. Its sweet and instantly gets rid of cravings. It goes directly to your liver so you don't have to digest it, as an added bonus it wont raise your blood sugar and gives you an instant energy burst. Goodluck

You can get a very nice chocolate in Aldi, it's a brand called Moser Roth and it has a 85% cocoa content, each pack contains 5 individual bars and each one has 4g of carbs.

Thanks guys, will be checking those suggestions out!!
Any dark choccie 70% or above. Try 70% and build up to higher percentages. Tescos Swiss 72% is a fave and I have 2 squares. Nibble off a corner. Suck it till it melts in your mouth. Repeat until 2 squares gone. Takes ages and you'll feel sated. Enjoy.

What diet are you following? I low carb and works great for me.

Here's a choc pudding recipe which is low carb.
Individual chocolate pudding

Recipe makes 2

50g butter, melted in the microwave
3tbsp ground almonds
1 1/5 tbsp sweetner
1/4 tsp vanilla
Pinch of salt
1 egg
1 tbsp cocoa powder
1/2 tsp baking powder
2 squares 70% dark flavoured with orange chocolate
Or
1 square 90% chocolate, chopped
2 tbsp pecans

Melt the butter in a bowl, add remaining ingredients and divide into 2 mugs and nuke for 1 minute per mug.

Have you heard of 9bars?
They do a peanut variety which hardy nudges my blood glucose - but they taste like an indulgent treat.

They have also introduced a few chocolate varieties. Still based on nuts and seeds, but with raspberries, coconut, or similar too. About 10g carbs per (small ) bar.

I'm testing them all, repeatedly, at the moment. ;) Will let you know my findings, in due course...

Thank for the info @Scandichic, I'm trying a low carb diet at the min and seems to be working, still trying things out though!! I've also got no idea if it is carb craving either @jack412 I suppose I thought it could be sweet stuff as that's what I miss most,
Thanks for all the info though, this has to be the best place for it :)

I make the pudding about once a week. Ice cream is also easy if you have a food processor. Here's my ice cream recipe. You can't freeze it so what you make you must eat. Per person: 100g frozen berries blitzed in the processor until tiny bits. Add 100ml double cream and 1 tsp sweetener. Blitz till ice cream. And best of all totally ok when following LCHF!
