Sugars are not the whole story in a diabetic diet. You can have sugar as long as you dont overdo it. And it is natural.

I would avoid them. Better to get used to non-sweetened tea.

I did it with coffee some years ago. I found I had started to make stronger and stronger coffee so needed more sugar. I had also come across some information on how toxic sugar is so decided to cut it out. I started to make slightly weaker coffee with half the amount of sugar. In a few weeks it tasted normal so I took half of that amount of sugar for a while and then stopped the sugar completely. Now I wouldn't dream of contaminating my coffee with sugar of sweetener.

Thanks I'm going to try the same method ;o)

i think having occasional sugar with limits are ok. dun have to be too extreme. you can also use stevia. to sweeten beverages.

Is there a problem with sweetex? I've been diabetic since 1997 and started using sweetex instead of sugar in my tea, it's the only real change I've really made.

I drink Diet coke which is full of sweeteners. I also add granulated sweetener to Greek Yoghurt.

I just looked at a tub of truvia which I was given. it says 99g of carbs and zero calories per 100g. claims to be suitable for diabetics.

I do take sweeteners .....love my sugar free ginger beer.....
And I sometimes bake ..low sugar cake with 50% stevia ....

All individual choice and diet pathways I believe x

I like using xylotol as a sweetener. It's expensive but I only have a small spoon in coffee.
