Swelling/edema in my right foot and cold feet - not a clot, kidneys are fine. Anyone else get this?

Oh sorry,

I think I may have mislead the number of carbs I eat in a day. When I listed my snacks I don't eat ALL of those in a day lol. It's just the types of food I have in general if I snack. I don't think I eat as much as 120g carbs a day.
Do you accurately carb count or estimate?

Yeah, I try my best to. If my blood sugar is below 10 my ratio seems way lower than 1:10 but anything above and it's just a mystery. I usually take an extra unit or few units with food if I'm high. For example, woke up on a 12 today. Had a breakfast bar that is about 19g so I took 3 units instead of 2.

Did you measure your blood sugar again after eating the breakfast bar?

Yeah. Some days its perfect and other days it shoots up to 18-20.

I also went to the GP today about my foot/leg. They said my circulation is fine, and were not concerned that it's anything serious as my bloodwork for clots/kidneys/heart etc came back perfect. They're doing ultrasound of my pelvis now to rule out any kind of cysts that might be compressing on blood flow. Pulse is good in my foot and I had a cat scratch a few days ago that they said is healing up really fast so they don't think I have neuropathy.

They wanna check my thyroid too but they think I might just have edema for no reason that could be triggered by heat/high sugars.

Oh, just to add - 3 hours after today my sugars were still 12 so I took another 3 units. Then I had a cheese omelette for lunch and went up to 18 after I went to the doctors. I think heat spikes my sugars tbh.

I hope your edema resolves itself soon. If I were you, I would carefully watch and record my insulin doses, food eaten and the times when you measured your blood glucose, in an effort to get your double digits down.

Thank you for your kind words and advice. :) I have an appointment with my diabetic nurse in a few weeks to potentially change to another insulin. Preferably I want to change Novorapid because I just find it really inconsistent and unreliable. I don't think my Lantus is a problem. I don't notice any spikes before my dose is due so I don't think it runs out.
