Hi,

I have been getting a lot of swelling in my hands and feet lately and some joint pain. Also, I have put on a lot of weight, my face, chest, back, legs and bottom are getting very large and puffy. Is this related to my diabetes? I was diagnosed two and a half years ago but really seem to be struggling to get things under control.
 
Carbs are inflammatory (joint pain), retain water (oedema) and glucose from eating carbs gets stored in fat cells, as we can't burn it off properly... I see you haven't checked in here in a long time. If your diabetes is poorly controlled and your diet remains carby, then yes, this could be a diabetic issue. But the joint pain could also be from a statin for instance...? What's your diet like, (what do you eat on an average day) what is your latest HbA1c, and what medication are you on? Maybe we can help?
