Well it was good news, bad news.

The good news was that the Animas Vibe lasted 2 hours submerged. The G4 CGM sensor/transmitter also lasted though it lost reception a couple of times. The G4 was not fully submerged. I was mostly wading with the sensor under a T shirt (otherwise I would have been very self conscious at the local swimming pool). But the T shirt was soaked and the sensor was submerged at least part of the time.

The bad news was that while I was getting dressed afterwards, the Inset II infusion set came off entirely with a slight tug. It new on, the night before. Clearly the adhesive does not agree with swimming pool water. I was not carrying a spare set or a pen. So my planned afternoon had to be cancelled for a trip home. 2 hours without the pump and I felt dehydrated. Possibly just psychological as the G4 kept running and my BG did not go above 6.3. Still that will teach me to carry spares.

Any hints on waterproof fixings for the infusion sets?

Not sure on fixings, but every time I carry this with me it holds hypo treatments in the front incl glycagon injection kit. And in the back spare set, battery cartridge and everything else incl syringe if pump packs up. And it's not that big.image.jpg

:( sometimes it can be hours after having the pump off you notice a spike in bloods so just be weary of that as insulin can be active for 4 hours depending which one you are on. I have only been swimming once and I'm on a non waterproof pump so remove the pump and just leave the cannula in and cap it off but I also found I needed to change my sticky after swimming for 2 hours. I always carry a spare cannula with me or have one in the car or somewhere just incase of any unexpected problems so I don't have to panic about going home to get the problem sorted and no need to change any plans

The DSN suggested I stick an Opsite or Tegaderm dressing over the canula. Obvious really! I think I was nervous because it would stop me unplugging the canula. But then I can always just rip the Tegaderm off if I need to unplug.

The DSN also reminded me to change the Vibe's battery compartment cap and the reservoir compartment cap every six months to preserve waterproofing. Free on request from Animas.

When I placed my first order, I ordered a battery cap and a cap that goes on the end of the cartridge. But when my order arrived, they had stuck extra batteries in as well.

Can you get the Lithium batteries for free from Animas then? I've been using alkaline because I thought I would have to pay for them.

When I ordered my sets & cartridges and battery and cartridge cover their was a set of batteries as well and they weren't on the order invoice. So I can only presume so.
