I was diagnosed type 2 diabetes 11 months ago. I have been struggling to control my diet ever since. 6 months ago was put on metformin 2 twice daily but keep forgetting to take them. The past week my feet have been swelling a lot, do i need to worry about this. I can't lay on my back and elevate my feet as 2 weeks ago u tore a muscle in my back and can't lay down and have been sleeping sat in the chair. Any advice please?

Could be water retention, best to get them looked at by your gp AllyH.

I would think it is a lot to do with not being able to raise your feet. Can you lift them onto a stool in front of the chair as this would alleviate the pressure? If your feet are dangling all the time then they are more prone to swelling.
Best to get your G.P. to advise as a back injury and swollen feet needs some attention.
Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for the replies, my partners taking me to the out of your go now

Got sorted thanks, doc thinks it's just because I've been sleeping in the chair for past few weeks

Can you sleep in your bed now ?
Do hope so - then you can get your feet up and back be
possibly more supported and less painful whilst in bed .

Let us know how things go please .

Hi Anna, I tried laying on the sofa last night as it is a lot former than my bed, I was quite comfortable at first but awoke after an hour with the pains starting in my lower back again. I'm hoping it's just as the muscle hasn't healed properly yet after injuring it twice in 2 weeks. On the plus side the feet were almost back to normal today. Thanks for all the well wishes
