I'm on holiday in Spain at the moment and experienced some problems last night after eating a meal followed by a few glasses of sangria! I had a sudden rush come up my body and I went light headed and faint in a very short time. This has happened to me a couple of times over the past year and the symptoms appear to subside when I drink water. I checked my blood sugar levels while I was experiencing the symptoms and the monitor was showing 12.5 I took another reading in the middle of the night and it was showing 14.5. It was down to 8.8 at 9am this morning.
Is it possible that you could experience symptoms like this without having an overly high bs reading? I wasn't drunk, the sensation was a numbness that appeared to rush up my body and feeling faint to the extent I nearly passed out. My mouth went very dry and I felt very thirsty!
Perhaps a fast hit of sugar could cause this?
