Hello :) I'm trying to get my diabetes under control and be a bit more caring about it. I have t:slim + dexcom g6 + control iq and would like to use it to the fullest! Could you share you advices and your personal hacks/tips on how you use your control iq to archive your diabetes control? One of more specific questions that i have is - how do you calculate high fat and high protein food? And what type of bolus and with what time delay do you use?

Thank you!

Am also a Tandem Slim/CIQ user - the best starting point is to get your ratios as finely tweaked as possible so basal fasting tests to confirm basal ratios are optimised, get yourself onto the Tandem Slim facebook group, as you can see how others use the system, personally I find that once ratios are set there is very little user intervention required aside from boluses and exercise adjustments, I also use trusteel sets so I don't get set failures, I wouldn't use the plastic/teflon sets as they are more problematic and likely to fail, I have a couple of basal patterns set up simply by duplicating my current so I can tweak where necessary for illness/holiday and resume normal when required.

In regards to high fat and protein, there isn't a set calculation/formula, personally I would take 30% bolus up front and 70% around an hour later, you can do an extended bolus on the Tandem too. We all process fats at different rates so it's finding what works best for you.

It's the best system out there currently IMO.
