T1 and acupuncture

Hi .......... I am a Type 1 diabetic and will shortly be having a course of acupuncture because of pain to an accident injury site (Not related to diabetes)
I have been told this may lower my blood glucose levels ........ Does anyone know anything about this and if true Why ??
