Narrow minded people. Selfish people.
I recently was diagnosed with T1 and i am finding it really difficult.
For years before i was diagnosed i was enjoying my fitness and was maintaining my weight in a healthy range.
My problem is now that im struggling with time/energy to get to the gym/pool etc and would like to try out some weight lose products. :?
I know this can be a touchy subject.
Is there any safe products i can use? :| :|
I was looking at the Thermopure from My Protein but noticed it contains ketones. is this product too dangerous to take considering my status?
I would prefer to have a low carb diet but i just cant get my head around it and my dietician hasnt really explained how many calories i can consume in a day so i can work out my carb/fat/protein intake allowance.
I dont want to embark on anything that will have the potential to hinder my condition as im just starting to get my BG's stable.

Well personally I think that you'd be wasting your money!
You might want to look at this wikepedia article on Raspberry Ketones (this is the ingredient in the supplement you mentioned). According to this article this additive (synthesized from raspberries or produced artificially ) has an effect on mice: stopping them from increasing weigh on a high fat diet, it is claimed that it alters the lipid metabolism but this effect hasn't been studied in humans.

As you are only recently diagnosed I would work on understanding how different types of foods and insulin and exercise affects your blood glucose levels. Keep good records.
I assume that you are on a basal/bolus regime ie you take 1 or 2 injections a day of lantus or levemir and a rapid acting insulin for each meal. If so it is well worth learning to count your carbohydrates and adjust your insulin accordingly. If you learn do this then you can tailor your diet to your needs, you will be more in control of what you can eat. (ie then you can if you want substantially reduce the carbs and reduce insulin safely or you could just down the calories overall... this would also mean a reduction in carbs)
The NHS runs courses in this DAFNE (though has other names in some areas)and everyone speaks highly of it. There is also a very good online course that might help

One thing though is that if you are very newly diagnosed it maybe that you are in what's called a honeymoon period and your pancreas is still producing some insulin. This can make things less predictable and your insulin needs may change overtime.

Thank you 8)
Im currently on 2 injections a day of humalog 25. I hope to change to 4 injections per day. Was told this would give me greater flexability when it comes to excercise. :)
Does anybody know how to figure out your required calorific value intake?
I work apx 80% in a office but when out of the office my job is physically demanding and on the odd occasion i can be out all day conducting physical works, Digging/roads inspections etc.
