T1 Metformin removal study??? Results???

REducing with MetfOrmin Vascular Adverse Lesions (REMOVAL) study

Basically, they gave T1s over 40 with heart risk factors metformin twice a day. It was double blind, so no one knew whether they got a placebo or not.

OK, I was on this study between 2015 and 2017, and I can see that the results are online.... hidden behind paywalls. Can anyone with medical access tell me what the verdict was? (Should I be asking to go on metformin ? No, you don't have to answer that. :))

Ellie, my feeling is if you were a study subject (horrid word, but my brain won't find another this morning), I would think you should be able to receive a copy of the study findings.

If you are unable to find the paper free, then contact the studying body. I know places like the NIHR are delighted when people show interest in their research, whether participants or not.

What did your conditions of participation say about outputs? There may be something in those, if you kept them.
 
Thanks very much @DCUKMod , you've inspired me to re-email my co-ordinaters to see if I can get an answer re placebos. I think if I was on metformin during the trial I'll ask to go back on it. It's really hard to compare my diabetic control between now and then because I was using the libre for much of the trial....(I can't now because it no longer works for me.)
