Hi, my name's Andrew (31). In January, i was diagnosed with T1 diabetes with a hba1c of 109, tiredness, thirst weight loss (around 20lb lost from 11st). I was slim before and had no family history so really came out of nowhere. I had a fairly significant personal trauma which appears to have triggered the condition (however doctors wont attribute stress as a cause).

The diagnosis was a bit of a shock but actually i felt much better having an answer to what was wrong with me. So now I'm injecting 4 times a day and it doesn't bother me too much. Humalog and Lantus at the moment but after a while I'd like to get on GCM and eventually a pump. Using a Bayer Next USB at the moment which is much better than the Accucheck Active i had for the first couple of weeks. Also finally back up to my old weight but not sure how the hba1c is, time will tell.

Anyway plodding along one week at a time, so hello :)

Hi and a warm welcome to the forum Andrew :)

Hi Andrew, sounds like you're managing great so far! Welcome along! Abbie :)

Thanks guys much appreciated. Looking for trials etc now to see if I'm any use to science lol

Still doing ok, getting lots of referrals for eyes and feet and stuff. There's a lot to look into!

good work MrBrightside -- it is a marathon so do remember not to get hung up too much on the immediate.
can be tough to do when you are in the middle of it though !!!!
