Does anyone know if there is any connection between T2 and fluid retention?

Fluid retention has been an issue for me since I had my first son in 1967 and, it is now thought, I had gestational diabetes which either didn't go away when he was born, or came back when I had my 2nd son in 1969 and didn't go away again.

So here I am more than half a century later, still struggling not to swell up like an over full water bottle, taking diuretics and lots of blood pressure medication, struggling to control my weight and trying to reduce the amount of insulin I need to take.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

No personal experience, but I have heard of T2's (some of Gr David Unwin's patients I think) coming off diuretics as well as Blood Pressure and Diabetes meds.
Lots of Low Carbers initially lose weight which is mostly water at first, since carbs make us retain water - hence the need for some low carbers to take extra sodium, potassium and magnesium.

Yes, I realised that, but going low carb, which I have been doing for a couple of years, hasn't enabled me to come off any meds so far and hasn't made the fluid retention any better. There may not be a link at all, but I wondered.
