t2 and podiastrist

Your nurse sounds like a lovely lady, and I'm pleased you had a positive appointment.

See your GP on Friday as planned, but if you don't have a positive appointment, I suggest you make another with the one your nurse spoke about. He may have more empathy and be more prepared to help you. Hopefully, your own GP will come up trumps for you.
 
@ally1 - well done on going and having your say. Do go on Friday and have your say again. Your GP does need to know how you feel, and if you're not happy with how Friday ends, the seriously think about seeing the other GP.

In balance, though, it would be interesting on your usual GP's view on the drug the other guy would consider. Clearly your usual GP probably has a better understanding of your overall personal issues, and has been working with your specialist, discussing the interaction of the drugs you have for your other conditions. This other GP may not have really had that overall bigger picture.

Keep fighting the fight Ally. You deserve a decent outcome in all of this. You really do put in the hard yards.

I'll cross my fingers for you again on Friday.
 
Hi, do you have to see the same gp each time? At our practice we can make an appointment with whoever we choose or is available. The same when a letter from the hospital is addressed to a specific gp - it gets read and recorded by whoever is doing that role on a particular day.

Thank you. To be honest, I didn't, t ask what the med was so have no idea what it's used for

At my surgery, they like patients to see their named gp. Unless he is on holiday/ill/fully booked up/day off.
I prefer to see my own gp as he knows more about me, he is roughly my age, he is what I call a hard gp to get anything off but he his firm but very fair. I know where I stand with him

Do go this morning. You are not wasting his time. You're doing the right thing by going. And everyone who has been reading this thread will - metaphorically speaking - be in there with you!

Let's hope he's got a consulting room big enough to fit us all in....!

Ally - The appointment isn't for the benefit of your GP. It is for you to engage with him at the earliest opportunity to ensure he understands how upset this has made you, and to ensure there are no further delays in you receiving the care you require.

If he hasn't had the letter yet, at least he'll know what's coming his way, and he'll have something to think about.

You need to get rid of these frustrations as soon as you can. When we wait a long time before making our point about poor treatment (or whatever), we can tend to soften over time because the emotions pass, and we enter a phase of accepting our predicament, but he needs to properly understand the impacts on you, and your health and well-being. This is your appointment ally. Please do keep it.
 
Been to see my Gp. It turned out to be about going onto a painkiller from the nerve damage in my fee gp has received the letter from the podiatrist, and what I said corresponded with what the podiatrist said.
Gp would, t prescribe the strong painkillers to me because of interacting with my bipolar meds. He however said, to see how I go and if I feel I need strong painkillers, Gp has agreed to chat with my pdoc to see if my bipolar meds could be changed.
I understand what my Gp said, as at the moment I am fairly stabalized with my meds and the nerve pain is bare able.
So all in all I found the appointment productive.
