Just been diagnosed type 2. I also take Warfarin for AF plus other medicines.
Do I tell the DVLA, I am a professional driver ? And my car insurance

I'm pretty sure it's only once you take insulin that insurance & Dvla need to get involved.

as an hgv driver t2 on metformin dvla require you inform them they send a letter back after getting intouch with your doc the letter is just an info paper on what to look out for as for insurance i phoned mine and they told me unless the doctor says no driving then they dont need to be informed as luck would have it ive since reversed my t2 come off the metformin and on diet only just waiting for another hb1ac test in 3 months time see what results come back then inform dvla again happy days

I'm T2 and just gone through this process.

You do not need to tell DVLA unless you are taking insulin
Car Insurance said they didn't need to be told. Again...unless you're on insulin - this could vary between insurance companies

That is correct as soon as I went on Insulin I informed the DVLA who sent me for an eye examination and then gave me a three year driving licence

Diet only
Just to summarise the DVLA rules, there is a distinction between Group 1 (car) and Group 2 (HGV) drivers:
Diabetic on insulin: must inform DVLA whether car or HGV driver;
Diabetic who has ever experienced a hypo: must inform DVLA whether car or HGV driver;
Diabetic on any other medication: must tell DVLA if HGV but not if car driver who has never experienced a hypo;
Diabetic controlled by diet alone: no need to tell.
