T2 holiday in Penrith where to eat?

Well ive got my annual 1 week holiday starting tomorrow (15/11/14) and we are going to Penrith, Got a wonderful farm house booked with log burner etc. The thing is does anyone know of some good places to eat or shops that sell diabetic friendly food stuffs as i dont want to fill the car with stuff to take with us. ( oh and the best kebab shop )

We have stayed in Applethwaite, braithewaite an Keswick itself around the winter time always found it really stunning on the walks and food was the last thing I worried about. Wouldn't know which places are open!
