I had a mild dose of confirmed Covid early October with symptoms of raised temperature, crushing tiredness, loss of taste and smell over two weeks and not surprisingly my BG levels were higher than usual. However I am no longer ill though my taste hasnt fully returned yet and my oxy meter readings are slightly lower than optimal. However I am really struggling to get my BG levels back in line and wondered if others had the same issue and how long it lasted. I am being very careful and usually aim for sub 30g carbs per day. Its early days for me but I would be interested to hear others experiences. TIA.

I think it will take a little longer for your BGs to get back in line. I felt I was on the mend after 35 days, however my organs weren't there yet.
My own BGs have started to improve now but it has been a long haul for me. Sounds like your infection was milder than mine and that's good, but the fact that your taste hasn't fully returned yet might indicate that your body is still healing. Like you say, it's very early days, be patient.

Hi Zand thank you for replying, that is useful info. I am sorry you had it bad and good to hear you’re getting better. Today I feel quite rough unexpectedly like its having another poke. So much is still unknown about this virus and its effects. People seem hell bent on discussing it as life and death but the long term health effects to those who get it, young or old, remains to be seen.

I’m fairly certain I had it in early March (no access to testing at the time, but symptoms fit). Off work for an uncharacteristic two weeks and a number of what appear to be short-term ‘relapses’ since, including today - unexplained fatigue, nausea, lack of sleep etc.

Blood glucose seems to have settled down so long as I’m firmly on the straight and narrow, but it doesn’t seem to take as much to send it spiralling as it used to.

I got it around the beginning of April. I have good days and bad days. Sometimes several days in succession. Just do what you can. It sounds like the virus is still lingering.

Thanks Goonergal and I hope your relapse today is short lived.

Thanks Lucy. It seems you might be having a worse time of it. I am sorry that many of you are still struggling. Take care.

Can I ask what your rise in BG levels were/are and is generally through out the day or at specific testing times, FBG for example?
Thank you.

Well its not dramatic to some but is to me. When Covid hit most I was seeing FBG between 7 and 9. I aim to be in the 5s though sometimes in the 6s. My last hba1c was 36. I am not interested in a Libre and usually only test about 1700 preparing for evining meal. All I can say is i try to stick to LC tested meals. The crazy thing is when I have symptoms like today my BG just runs away. I know I am not in a dsngerous zone by any means but I have tried very hard to control BG and after Covid its not running to form.
