I average 160g/day of carbs which is only half the recommended amount. Evening meal is usually no more than 60g of carbs in total. I also do plenty of exercise, and measure BG regularly but haven't had any issues. I'm not convinced very low carbs are necessary for everyone (though they are for some) and I really don't like to eat a lot of high fat foods. Also, I don't believe that I am or ever was diabetic. I was 7 stones overweight and didn't much exercise. I believe that I was insulin resistant due to visceral fat around my liver and pancreas and well on the way to diabetic but not there yet. It was just too easy for me to resolve. All BG readings from a few weeks after diagnosis have been normal for non diabetic (without meds), my HbA1c is stable at 32. The point is, that although I lost 7 stones, my readings were all great from when I was still almost 6 stones over. This doesn't fit the experience of many others. I still take it seriously, which is why I monitor and record food and exercise. It helps me, and if it helps anyone else that's great.
