My partner has metform slow release coated, we have just changed doctors and our local chemist only has the powder tablets which my partner cant take. They said if we have a brand name they will get them, any ideas?

I have heard them called Glucophage but I would have thought the chemist would have known that.

@mist - I can't imagine that would be helpful. If anything, logic might suggest it would do the opposite. By dissolving the tablet, my conclusion is that it would work more quickly, than slower. Never having been on Metformin of any variant, I can't speak from personal experience.

@Nigep - If you Google other names for Metformin SR, you should find some names there.

Sounds like you need to find a new chemist. The GP has to prescribe Metformin SR for it to be dispensed. Glucophage is the most common brand but I've had three other brands of Slow Release over the years. It is, of course, not available in powder form.
