I wish to ask a question(note I didn't say a stupid question) as there is no such things. I am taking tablets that are effective for 17hours but cannot swallow them whole, so I chew up(I don't recomend this as they don't tasts so good) now I wish to know does the effect they have work faster that way therefore taking a shorter time to wear off? ANY GOOD ADVICE

Ian,
You do't say which tablet but a lot of the slow release ones rely on the integrity of the coating so chewing would make release speed up. if in doubt, ask your pharmacist

Would you like to tell us which tablets you take that are too large Ian?

I take 850mg metformin and they are large, but metformin also come in 500mg size and I think there is one brand of them that is oblong instead of round.

Hi. Denise, yes, Met SR is oblong not round. Still a bit large but OK. Ian12, you must never crush a slow release or coated tablet. Do let us know which ones you are taking

Most tablets come in other forms if it is metformin the liquid is not available on the Nhs due to price however they do a powder form which may be worth trying.
