Tacx do a number of bike exercisers some models which hook up to your PC and show a film of the route and some which have virtual landscapes and some which allow multiplayer cycling races. However, the literature is not the clearest so I am wondering if anyone here knows how the range works and what trainer and/or software package I wuld need to cycle following film, not racing. It seems perfect for my shed :-)

I have a second hand Fortius I-magic system, works very well, but because I haven't upgraded the software, I'm restricted to an old Win95 laptop. I have a few of the videos and love them.

you can also set up your own workouts, train to heart rate etc, all very good stuff for a winter of seriosu bike training.

The very newest ones work on Win 7/8 but the software is not cheap and my videos are not forward compatible. If you can wait, you may find agood deal in the spring as people get back onto the roads, but now is just the beginning of the turbo season

Sounds like a useful tip. These things aren't cheap when you start looking at all the extras which you sort of need and can cost more than a very good bike. I don't know yet if I want to do 'real cycling' or just continue with what I started, cyclng as an indoor exercise. Maybe I will venture out during the winter months and see if I like cycling in our lovely weather and then see what is available.
