Taken medication

Hi wondering if anyone can help the doctor put me on Pioglitazone 30mg per day but since being on it my weight as gone through the roof , I am very careful about what I eat so know it not my food intake I just feel swollen as well the weight seems to be all round my middle never in my life been this big it's making me so unhappy the medication is bringing down my sugar levels from 72 to 61 but I cannot go putting this weight on any advice pls
 
Hi @Geraldine2424 and welcome to the forums.

Have you spoken to your GP about the issue? Weight gain and water retention are both listed as possible side effects for this drug and it may be that a different medication would be better for you.

I am very careful about what I eat

What sort of food are you eating? If you look at the "success stories" part of the forums a number of T2s here have had great success by lowering the carbs in their diet.

(And by success I mean that they have reduced their bg levels and their medication, and often weight if they are overweight, though not everyone loses weight on low carb).
