Taking Blood Glucose Monitors Abroad

Has anyone had any problems when taking their glucose monitor/pen abroad? i.e through customs. Do you need any kind of letter from your doctor? Thanks
 
My mother in law has travelled to Europe and USA with hers. She is type2 insulin injecting. Did get a GP letter to take with her but don't think she ever had to produce it.
 
Same as above. I got my doctor to write a letter stating that I'm a diabetic and need to have my insulin pens and testing kit with me at all times along with some sugar based items just in case of hypo They might try and charge you but fight that they shouldn't charge good luck and enjoy. Be careful if you're going somewhere HOT. insulin reacts quicker and more effectively in hot climates ......

I travel frequently, and have never had an issue. Get a letter from your DSN or your GP, but round here the GPs charge and the hospital doesn't. This is just in case you're asked but 99 times out of 100 if asked just say your diabetic and everything will be fine. Just remember to put all your insulin (including that the pens) in the little plastic bag which is removed from your hand luggage and you'll have no problems.
