Taking Blood Glucose

After getting back into the habit of taking my blood glucose levels I noticed lumps in my fingers. Is there any reason for this?
 
The one time this happened for me I had the setting too high and the lancet went too deep. I knocked it back a notch and it didn't happen again. Might be that.
