Taking of blood.

This works for me but it may be hogwash, I have rubbish veins, and it's sometimes a struggle to get blood, one time I had just drank a litre of water, and it was the most painless and easy time I had ever had, so now I make sure I'm well hydrated before getting blood drawn, it has worked for me ever since, just something perhaps worth trying for those who are having difficulties.

I'm not fussy over who takes my blood providing they are competent and do lots on a regular basis. Over the last few years 2 phlebotomists (hospital ones) have hit a nerve while doing it which is excruciating. The first one who did it wanted another try, I refused to let him near me again and the one who took over (being female as am I) considered that very reasonable conduct on my part!

You have to give consent for medical procedures and can refuse it. As far as I'm concerned I've done my bit in turning up there and presenting my arm and forms. Their bit is to do their job competently. No my veins are not great after 29 years of this treatment but I warn them of that and the nerve hitting and they all seem to have done quite well since then......

I've also been told the water tip but can't remember if I've done it or not.

I drank loads of water and I kept my arms warm, I actually turned up in a fleece when everybody else was in tee shirts!

That's interesting about hitting a nerve, I reckon that's what must have happened. It was like having a root filling without any analgesic!

Now I have been told that the Doc. has put a note on the computer to say that I can't have my results over the phone as usual, I have to wait until he gets back off hols next week and he wants to discuss the results with me.

I doubt that it is good news, but then I was 5.4% 3 months back, I can't have got THAT bad in so short a time. I hope.

Maybe it's my other tests, liver function etc. Maybe it's something serious, I wish they wouldn't do this sort of thing, it makes patients nervous, even when they have nerves of steel like me
