Taste buds changing?

New to the forum so hope I am posting this in the right section, diagnosed type 2 about three months ago, immediately changed my ways leaving off sugar and changed my ways and have now lost two and half stone. However I have noticed for example that carrots and cauliflower now seem to taste sweeter to me ,and yesterday my wife and I went to the theatre and I did eat out for the first time since diagnosis and picked the meal I had always enjoyed at this particular restaurant, but found the sauce that came with it too sweet in taste and did not enjoy it, and to be honest I found this a little upsetting, albeit I feel I have generally accepted my condition for what it is and that I have to change my ways to live healthily. Is this just me, is it my imagination or is it something that does occur that your taste buds change?
Thanks
Gary

Hadn't thought about it before , but yes I think I'm the same sweetness is very noticeable but other things seem to taste different as well ,

I have had the same since I have cut all sugar out my tastebuds have completely changed everything tastes sweet. Good thing is now don't crave sweets/cakes etc

Yes, things now taste sweet to us because they ARE sweet. Ketchup, pickle, milk, carrots. Naturally sweet or loaded with sugar in the factory. I quite like plain lemon juice! And my undoctrinated grandson does too, ironically.

I've found the same. As you reduce your sugar intake you become more attuned to it in sauces etc and you then look at the labels and realise just how much sugar is in them. If the population at large reduces it's sugar intake it will be easier to reduce it in things like tomato ketchup, soup etc without objection.

I have noticed that I can now smell the sugar in normal coke, I had never noticed it before. Every now and then I will have something sweet and I will get an instant headache for my troubles. Also I have noticed since being on LCHF that things I used to eat like mashed potato just dont taste nice now. Tonight we had a meal with noodles and I couldnt bring myself to eat them, I went for the broccoli instead.
