Feeling a bit fed up ......

Had a tooth out last week (lower molar) then 3 days later the crowned tooth next to it, the crown snapped off

Been to dentist today and the remains of that tooth are incompatible with refitting the crown, so the rest of that tooth had to come out

Now got no lower teeth on that side of my mouth :(

Have to wait approx. 6 months for everything to heal before I can get a lower set of dentures :(

Maybe I'll be on a Newcastle style derivative for longer than I thought, seeing as I've only got 1 lower "chewing tooth" left

Just fed up - sorry if I'm moaning ......... now the anaesthetic is wearing off, so need to go find some painkillers

Why 6 months to wait? Dentures can be fitted almost immediately unless you'r having the special ones screwed into your jaw...

Hi. I've just had five teeth out. Its 6 weeks before you can have dentures etc. I had to be sorted in hospital and had 9 stitches!!!! Maybe you heard wrong with all that anaesetic!! Hope that's helped! Sue x. :)

Moon chip you have my deepest sympathy I have 2 chewing teeth on my bottom jaw and dentures that make eating pretty well impossible, pre diabetic days soft bread was a stable food now that's soup having my dentures realigned next week meanwhile I keep my mouth shut when out in the wind
Meanwhile on a lighter note I sneezed once when in the sea and lost a set of teeth I just hope they don't surfice and bite someone's toes

Thank you so much for all your replies

My dentist (a gorgeous lady who I actually fancy ..... but don't tell anyone :)) said I could have 'immediate' dentures but that in 5-9 months they'd probrably not fit properly as my gums will change shape as they heal

I have struggled with my teeth for years so I'm in no rush - if it becomes an issue, I'll ask again

In the meantime I'm more 'Gums' than 'Jaws' LOL

Ouch!!

But take heart... I've gradually lost most of my back teeth over the years, and I've learned to chew nearer the front now - it's only very hard/tough food that is an issue... but I sometimes think I must look like a rabbit munching!

I remember when I was a teenager coming home from school to find my mum completely toothless :wideyed: - she'd been to the dentist and had them all out in one go, and could only manage baby food for a week! I believe it was from choice - not necessity - definitely not my idea of fun...

That's true, I had three teeth out 10 days ago, a bridge and the adjoining teeth because they were becoming unstable and weakened by the bridge. I had my denture fitted straight away, but had antibiotics in case of an infection and all was well..
Hope you are feeling okay.

Best wishes RRB

I remember a chap I worked with. He could not find a dentist in England to take out all his teeth.
He went to Wales where he was brought up and had all his teeth removed in one day. He came back to work the next week with a new set of teeth in place.
I've always hated my teeth and wanted to do the same. I just can't pluck up the courage to have it done at a dentist. Like my work friend I can't find a dentist in England to do it.

It takes time for the bone to heal after an extraction as all the soft and hard tissue will shrink back. You can have immediate dentures but you will find they need replacing in 6 mths. You end up paying twice.
