Tell them now. At the point of claim is not the time to find out you misjudged the situation, then find yourself uninsured.

I was diagnosed late 2013, but thus far my insurers have noted it, but mo applied any additional premium or conditions. Your profile states you're on Metformin only, so I would think you could be handled the same, but can't be sure. theyll make their minds up.

My insurers were only interested if it was notifiable to the DVLA which diabetes isn't unless you are on certain medication. If you tell them they cannot say you hadn't

It doesn't mater whether you are T1 or T2. It doesn't affect insurance premiums. They aren't allowed to discriminate like that!

Definitely tell your ins company, because if you don't it will give them an excuse not to pay out if you are unfortunate enough to have an accident.

Yes, tell them. As tim2000s said they are not legally allowed to put your premium up because of health conditions.

well i know they would get money out of me..... just to let them know i have diabetes has cost me £35
They are not allowed to load your premium, it's against the law. Are you sure you haven't been given an admin charge for change of details?

Unless it is as Carbsrocks suggests, an admin fee (which is a pain), I would pay it, to ensure you continue to have the appropriate insurance, but lodge a complaint, asking for the money to be refunded.

If they will not refund, they will have to explain what the charge is for and why they have levied it.

Is it one of the big insurers or a brokerage?
