I have heard it said on the forum that your GP surgery has to give you a printout of your blood test results if you ask for it but it seems this is not the same with all surgeries as some people say they have been refused theirs. So is it a NHS requirement to provide us with it if we ask for it or can a GP practises refuse it. I have never asked for a printout of mine so I don't know how it is with my GP practise

When I started asking for my test results back in 2008 I had to pay £5 and go back next day to collect them. In recent years they (GP or nurse) have simply printed them out and handed them to me, so I don't think it should be a problem for you to get yours.

I ring for my results but have to pay for a print out

I wouldn't get in a lather over it, after all, the worst thing they can say is "No".

When my lot were looking a bit uncomfortable about a print out, I just got my pad and pen out at the desk and asked her to read me each line, which I duly wrote in my notepad. Within a few short lines, she printed the lot off.

Sometimes, there's method in my madness. :D

I've never had any problems. The only time I came close was when I asked my DN during a review. She said she couldn't do it. What she meant was, she didn't know how to do it. She just rang the receptionist and asked her.

Any charges the surgery makes for anything should be displayed clearly on a notice somewhere in the waiting room. I think where confusion arises is when people ask for blood test results going back in history, which require many sheets of paper and is time consuming. If you only want one set of results, and one or two sheets of paper, there should be no charge.
