hello i am new to this whole diabetes thing , i am not yet diagnosed which type do i have .
i have done many blood test a few days ago , and my doctor visit is coming up , but i am in a panic a little bit .
if the test result for c-peptide was normal (1.8) , does that conclude that i have type 2 and not type 1 diabetes ?
( not my first doctors visit , i am on insulin 30j , my blood sugar ranges from normal to 9 , and sometimes lower then 4 in the mornings)

Hi @Crimsonsrb and welcome to the forums.

Am I correct that you have already been diagnosed diabetic (hence the insulin) but you are waiting to find out what type you have? My guess is they will also have done a GAD test to see if you have antibodies that indicate your system is attacking your insulin producing cells.

You really need a doctor to do the diagnosis of type, as there are a number of tests that can be done to determine this. (There are also types other than T1/T2 - eg T3c and MODY). T2 is by far the most common though.

Just to confuse you, T2s generally start with high insulin amounts, and T1s with low, so being in the middle isn't that conclusive either way. And forum rules specifically say that we can't diagnose so even if I did know from your result I wouldn't be able to say.

Have you been advised on how to treat hypos? It's important for insulin users to always have something sugary with them so that they can treat low blood sugars.

Good luck with your doctor's appointment and once more welcome.

Thank you , i had the doctors visit , he took a look at the results and told me it is type 2 , he has given me 1000mg gluformin twice a day , something called forxiga and the usual insulin and the next visit is in 6 months , but the paper i got after the visit confused me again , he wrote diabetes non-specific but he told me it was type2 , i even asked is it type 2 100% . now i know there are more then two types of diabetes , i also know other things can make your blood sugar stay high and beyond normal , like some internal injuries , failing organs , heavy inflammation , hormonal disorder .
That scares me coz doctors in my country are overworked , underpaid , and always in a bad mood , looking to get people out of the door as fast as possible , i can barely ask him anything .
