TEST RESULTS came through within 24 hours

Well i had a consultation set with the GP to discuss an administrative matter and i asked her to please write to me if she needed to see me after i had had the HBA1C test the day before as i would be away and dreading a tel call meaning i would have to abandon a holiday.
They came through she said and you have come down from 97 to 53 in the first 3 months since diagnosis and im maybe 2 1/2 stones lighter.
I didnt celebrate with a large slice of coffee cake but felt relieved the results are moving in the right direction and felt i had achieved something..She says if i can come down to 40 she will take me off Metformin. Currently 2 x 500 a day.Help from this forum kept me going and gave me so many ideas esp on bread my downfall so thanks people who have advised me.
 
Oh well done, that is brilliant news. You have worked very hard for those results, so allow yourself a glass or two of red at least. Superb weight loss, too. Keep up the good work and enjoy your holiday.
 
Well done, we know how much effort is involved to get those numbers. But they'd have to come with a gun to get my metformin off of me. Even with my current A1c of 38/5.7 it's going to be a med I stay on because of the overall health benefit

Congratulation both on the HbA1C result and the weight loss.

Its always good to hear success stories and certainly encourages me to stay on the straight and narrow.

Interesting you should say that. My GP said to me last month that he could take me off Metformin but, if I wanted him to, he'd leave me on it "given it has other benefits to overall health".

I've read about those benefits. I thought they hadn't all been proved, but I'd be interested to know more.

thanks people/ im obsessing far less now about the condition which is so much easier!!! I knew so little! Support here came at crucial times and really helped-like the Burghen bread option limited of course..and actually i prefer this to what is called by supermarkets to get our money :"wholemeal" .It keeps as well.
