Hi all,

Does anyone know of a site where test sensors can be bought at reasonable prices? I'm looking for GlucoMen LX sensors or Accu-Check Aviva.

I'm lucky in that my GP is still supplying me with what I need for the present but since I'm testing no less than 3 times a day, I don't want to press my luck. I'm 6 weeks into low carbing and as such am still testing frequently.

I got my monitor, 204 lancets and 50 testing strips from Ebay, found it to be the cheapest place I could find. It cost me around £30 for the lot.

Look up the website for your chosen brand.
I pay Half for my strips from Abbott diabetes care, compared with Boots. I have sometimes done quite well in Ebay too.

I get it all for free either from the quack or the clinic I thought every diabetic got these for free ????

Hi srm100841,

I have an Accu-check Aviva tester and when I phoned Accu-Chek last week to ask for a new battery, they said I should have a back up tester and sent me another one FOC, so it wouldn't harm you to give them a ring and see if they will send one out to you before you buy one.

With regards to test strips and lancets I get these free on prescription from my dr.

Cheers

You do. I do. Most don't. It's that other National Lottery known as the NHS Post Code Lottery. If you live in the wrong place, the local PCT doesn't want to know you as you are a drain on their finances.
