Hey all,
I'm getting prepared for a holiday in Asia and at the last minute have read that test strips for your meter also need to be in a certain temperature range, i.e not above 30 deg C
I got a frio wallet for my insulin but didn't even think about the strips, do these need to go in its own cooling bag also, or has anyone been away to hotter climates and not had a problem

Cheers,

Lloyd

Hi
I'm in South Africa were 30 Degrees is common in Summer, I've never had a problem, even on days of 38 degrees C
My Blood Glucose tester has a HI temp reading that comes on when the Temp is to High (I'm Told) but I've never seen it.
Don't think you will have any problems
Enjoy the trip :D

I haven't had any heat related issues with strips, and that's over some months. When I came back in March, I brought my strips to last until August. So far, so good.

For completeness, I don't refrigerate or have them in a special place. They're not in direct sunlight, or in a cupboard on an outside wall, but other than that, nothing special.

Hi
My test strips worked fine at over 40oC, even though packing said to keep them below 30oC.

I did store them in a small cool bag whilst travelling, I didn't use a cool block or similar as I was more concerned that the condensation due to cool block would have more of a detrimental effect on the test strips than the heat.
I used a few of those small silica sachets (got mine from work but could use ones from shoe boxes or other packing boxes) to keep contents of my test bag dry whilst in transit.

Once at destination I kept everything in a cool cupboard.

I used my 'normal' hubby as a control to check strips were OK after we arrived ('normal is in terms of his blood sugar;))
