Hi I've just heard that test strips will not be free on prescription has anybody else any knowledge on this

This isn't new! Very few of us type 2s not on insulin, gliclazide or similar get free test strips. We have to self fund.

It's not true, from other posts elsewhere someone has copied and pasted something on face book with no links what so ever.

Hi @Bergkamp777

I saw the same post today on Facebook. I Googled the first line and when I read the article, is was about Australia. It would seem Type 2s have been able to have some subsidy to fund test strips and the Gvmt is wanting to remove that subsidy so that Type 2s will not be issued test strips, unless on insulin or medications such as Gliclazide or Glipizide, which cause an increase of insulin in your system. In Englad, Type 2s don't have this benefit unless on insulin or specific meds, so it does not affect us.

I then found it in Snopes and listed as FALSE. I posted back with the link to say it was false and it has since been deleted :) This particular poster never checks these things out before 'sharing' etc and it drives me mad ;)

The Snopes site came up with this - http://www.snopes.com/government-eliminating-test-strip-subsidy-for-diabetics/ So, I suggest you don't worry about it any more, eh? Pass the word around that it's False and some bright spark is out to scare-monger. Shame they haven't anything better to do, in my opinion. ;)
