Is it ok to use blood testing strips that are out of date or will they give false readings?

- Rude people! Not being able to do the things I want to do.
They potentially will give you false readings.I would stick to strips that are in date.
yeah i can second that, i was recently given my first meter and strips. When the nurse tried to show me how to use it the meter kept showing error readings when she put the calibration tester in. After about 7 boxes of test strips all doing the same thing she realised that the strips were out of date and i was told never to use strips past their sell by date because you won't get an accurate reading. Hope this helps

Hazey, I hope you didn't have to keep stabbing your finger while she went through 7 boxes of strips!
I had cause to try out some out of date strips on a medisense machine and it flashed up an 'out of date' message and wouldn't let it continue, so even if it worked I wouldn't trust the reading I don't think.
