Hi Manny,

I think that I was very lucky at diagnosis to have an excellent Health Care Team. They explained the principles of the G.I. diet to me and recommended books and websites to help me.

My meter was my best friend in the early days as this was the tool that explained everything with regard to what I could and could not eat or what I had to reduce the portion size of.

I have never counted carbs when planning my meals as I know what I can and cannot eat but have added them up on the odd occasion and they range from 90 - 120. daily.

I think that the mistake that some people make with a food that is low G.I. is that just because it falls in this category it will be alright for a Type2 to eat. That is not the case as it still has to be tested.

Hope this goes some way to explaining it to you.
