Testing before driving

Last night before I left work I had 1 test strip left so I tested and it came up code error so I couldn't use it so I had to drive without testing, I only live 10 mins from work and I knew I wasn't low. Has this happened to anyone before?

Yep, I had the same error message today. If your machine is like mine, I hadn't waited long enough for the machine to ready itself (I use a Glucomen areo 2K whatever that means!!). I should wait for the little blood drop sign to appear and sometimes I forget... or at least I think I do.o_O

Sarah, not sure whether you are asking about the code error or the fact that you risked it and drove for 10 minutes. I would definitely NOT risk it because it is against the law for one and if you had an accident I doubt you would be insured as you are driving other than in accordance with DVLA. Also even if the accident was another person's fault, whether you were low or not would still get you into trouble with DVLA. How would you know you weren't low, on feelings alone? Sorry to sound officious but that would not be accepted as an excuse otherwise the law would be saying 'drive if you feel ok'. I have experience of diabetics who failed to test and got into a lot of hassle.

Yes I was asking about the driving not the error code I get that a lot using the test strips I have. I know about getting into trouble but that's my only way to get home. I will have a spare pot of strips in the car from now on but this has never happened before.

Might not be a great idea to keep them in the car, they don’t like extreme temperatures x

I have also this experience. Can I say it has not happened again.

I do not keep my meter in the car due to drops in temperatures and the effect it hasn't on the meter and testing strips
