Recently bought a accu chek nano and tested every day for a week and the readings where always between 8 - 13mmol/l, But i have not tested for about 2 weeks now as money is tight but recently i have been feeling terrible dizzy, light headed, sickness and i am forever tired
I have an appointment to see my GP on friday about my recent HbC1 test (can't remember my last reading)

Deac, what time of day did you test? If it was first thing in the morning (before breakfast) then your readings are a bit high. I'd say if you test only once a day then early morning is best, and once you start trying out a specific diabetes diet then also test just before and one or two hours after eating each suspect food.
Take your readings record to the GP to s/he can see you are taking your condition seriously and taking charge of your own health. It's also worth asking for the GP practice to supply you with a meter: they're reluctant to do it, but then you'd get strips on prescription.
